Kings Heath Sports FC - New Teams!
Kings Heath Sports FC are proudly part of Kings Heath Sports Club, one of the oldest sport and social clubs in the country.
Our ambition is to be the BEST grassroots football club in Birmingham, with a focus on creating the most positive environment for your kids to play football.
We have 4 new teams starting in September at U7s, U8s, U9s and U11s
It's an exciting time!!
You're about to embark on a roller-coaster of emotions by watching your child play football.
Trust us, once you've had your first experience of grassroots on a Sunday... football on the telly is nowhere near as much fun!
Remember, many people don't get to meet their favourite players... you get to drive yours to and from football every week 😉
We have LOTS to do
Please follow the steps below so your child doesn't miss out...
1. Your team
Make a note of which team your child is joining:
School Year 1 = U7s (Ben)
School Year 2 = U8s Lions (Connor)
School Year 5 = U11s (Shak)
N.B. One or two players are playing a year up - this is ok assuming ALL players are at least 6 years old by the 1st September 2023.
N.B. All of 'School Years' above are the CURRENT academic year 2022/23, but the teams are for the NEW academic year.
2. Understand the Cost
Grassroots football is, unfortunately, not cheap.
Please note the total costs below are ESTIMATED, and based on last seasons' costs.
We can't give you accurate total numbers yet as a couple of factors are still to be confirmed: Referees fees & the number of players in each squad (the more players = less cost individually).
These costs are split between 'set up' (i.e. payable before the season starts) and 'ongoing' (i.e. payable over 8 months of the season):
U7s = £233 total (see below)
£95 set up costs
£138 payable during the season (8 months x £17)
U8s Lions = £247 total (see below)
£95 set up costs
£152 payable during the season (8 months x £19)
U11s Lions = £175 total (see below)
£95 set up costs
£80 payable during the season (8 months x £10)
We expect most parents will prefer to pay in instalments, but if you wanted to avoid the hassle (and it really would help us manage cashflow!!) then feel free to pay season costs in full (or part).

Reviewing the cost
The first season is generally more expensive. Rest assured we'll review the costs at the end of every season to ensure we only ask for what we need 🙂
Common Questions
Yes – but you must give at least 21 days’ notice. Anything less than that and the team will incur a fine
It’s a notice, given (at least) 21 days in advance of the game that you won’t be able to fulfil the fixture.
You are allowed 2x 21 Days notice each season.
Sadly not.
Hiring suitable and local venues is very difficult so we hire venues all year round (apart from holidays) to secure the slot.
Also, football is a winter sport which means rain, sleet, wind, snow and plenty of shivering! There is no point training indoors when the team plays matches outside.
All training is at 9am on Saturday morning at Moseley School
Unfortunately no, although the overall cost per season is a bit less as you won’t pay for coach or referees.
Via an app called Heja.
Ask your secretaries for info via your WhatsApp groups
Yes, this isn’t the passport office!
Ask your secretaries
Yes – speak to your secretaries
Nope.
We pick them at random and FA rules dictate each team canomly have one player in each number.
If not the team wil get fined AND the person who picked the wrong number will need to pay for a new kit….
Sadly, nope.
Loves Football deliver training.
Everything matchday-related is on a not-for-profit basis and delivered via Kings Heath Sports FC.
Unfortunatley not.
Sadly not.
We have a number of regular costs, not to mention the chaos it would cause trying to reconilce weekly payments across multiple teams.
Not at the moment, but it is something we are considering.
The monthly cost is for 8 months only (i.e. broadly the length of the season). Other clubs charge 12 months of the year
Yes and it would be a huge help!
Yep – every age group plays cup games.
No, it’s a monthly cost to cover referees fees and coach costs over the course of the season
Yes, every Sunday between September and the end of April . There is a break over Christmas and usually no fixture on Easter Sunday.
Each club has the option of having 2x rest weeks each season but they MUST give The FA 21 days notice or there will be a team fine :/
All players need team kits (shirt, shorts, socks).
You will be able to buy woolly hats, coats etc later this year
Yes, at the same time and place 🙂
